Introduction
Graduate Studies in EnviroStats is a suite of modules on statistical computing and statistical
analysis offered online by the
Institute for Applied Ecology
at the
University of Canberra.
The modules are non-award in the sense that you do not get a formal degree, but rather a Certificate of Achievement
reflecting that the modules are not formally assessed. A module is like a shortcourse, only on-line.
There are three ways in which the modules can be taken.
Pro-Bono (non-award) -- enter the course module as a guest user, but in the knowledge that some functions
will not be available to you (such as full access to the discussion forums or the self-evaluation exercises).
You can download the Study Guide and data files, but will not
recieve the Study Guide in printed form. You will need to access SAS through your home institution.
A Certificate of Achievement will not be issued.
Paying Participant (non-award) -- Pay the scheduled fee (we will invoice you) and gain full access to the course module. You will
receive a printed copy of the Study Guide, and will be able to download the datafiles. You will have access to the discussion forums,
all self-evaluation exercises and sample answers
and, as a student enrolled in a course at the University of Canberra, you will be entitled to a restricted copy of the licenced software needed
to complete the module. On completion, you will receive a Certificate of Achievement and a statement outlining the core competencies of participants
who successfully complete the module. Course costs are given in US dollars.
Enrolled in a degree or diploma course -- You will be provided with a key to gain full access to the course module. You will
receive a printed copy of the Study Guide, and will be able to download the datafiles. You will have access to the discussion forums,
all self-evaluation exercises and sample answers.
You will be able to access SAS through your home institution and, if they have appropriate licencing, you will be able to
install a copy of SAS on your home computer. Completion of the module will contribute to your degree or diploma at your home institution.
