Overseas students have the opportunity to bring a problem
and data relating to it from their home countries to work on
for their research project. Students engaged in full time
research are often sponsored for fieldwork in their home
countries for a maximum of six months by the granting body.
The majority of such overseas students have been sponsored
under various programmes of the Australian International Development Aid Bureau (AIDAB), including direct
scholarships to students from developing countries, the Equity and Merit Scholarships
Scheme (EMSS), the International Postgraduate Research Scholarship Programme
(IPRS), CONACYT and the International Union for the Conservation of
Nature (IUCN).
Apart from bringing their knowledge and experience to the Group, the contributions of
international students in the social and cultural life of the student body has been especially valuable.
A Guide for Overseas Students published by the University of Canberra
is available on request. It provides information on the University, the campus, educational and application
requirements for various countries, life in Canberra, and other
useful tips. A schedule of fees for the courses are also
available on request.
International students wishing to join
the Institute for Applied Ecology
should refer to the Scholarships Page and contact an appropriate member of
Academic Staff
regarding the suitability of a postgraduate project and appropriate supervision.
